We think the humble trainer might be just about the perfect fashion item: an instant outfit elevator, they're a blank canvas attracting a constant devotion to innovation and new technology.
And they look pretty good too!
These days, trainers are so much more than just a shoe for sports. They have taken on a cult-like status with sneaker devotees obsessively collecting exclusive pairs and searching for the ultimate designer pieces - the most sought-after of which can change hands for tens of thousands of pounds.
When it comes to worshipping the trainer, Crepe City has to be the pinnacle of sneaker salutation! It's happening on Sunday 1st August - and if you've managed to get your hands on a ticket, this is what you can expect to see there.
There will be over 150 stalls with some of the rarest shoes on the planet up for grabs. From well-known global brands like Adidas and Nike to more unique offerings including Crep Select, KershKicks, Famous Grail, M5 Sneakrs, MattB Customs and Sneaker63. It's your chance to get up close to some of the latest trends and hottest designs. Prices range from as little as -20 right up to £3,500 meaning that there really is a sneaker for everyone and every budget.
It's not just shoe shopping; there's also plenty to keep you entertained throughout the day with loads of live entertainment to take in. On the main stage you can catch experts talking trainers in a panel discussion with some of the biggest trainer-lovers and creators around. DJs from Pie Radio will be providing the soundtrack whilst street food traders will fuel your sneaker search. To make sure you're looking your absolute best, there's even a barbershop on-site as well as a sneaker-cleaning service to keep you and your trainers looking fresh.
The organisers are suggesting you bring some cash with you in case you're overcome by trainer temptation. Some sellers will be accepting cards and PayPal - but some will only accept cash and it might be tricky to leave the venue to find a cash machine.
If you're heading to Crepe City from Axis or Manhattan, you can get to Bowler's Exhibition Centre easily on the new Trafford Park tram line. So, grab your favourite pair of trainers, and we'll see you there!
