Five ways to save funds on DIY jobs for tenants

Five ways to save funds on DIY jobs for tenants

All our apartments come with the wow factor as standard.  But with spring just around the corner, you might be thinking about freshening up your surroundings.  Sprucing up your home doesn’t need to cost an arm and a leg – in fact, there are many steps you can take to improve your home without even spending a penny!  So, if you’re looking for apartment decorating ideas, we’ve put together our top DIY tips for tenants:

Upcycle old furniture:

Vintage is very much in vogue right now – and for excellent reasons! It’s so simple to transform an old or classic piece of furniture into something that is both brighter and more in-fitting with your taste or décor.

It doesn’t take much to give an old piece of furniture a new lease of life! Often just a gentle sanding-down and a lick of paint and some new handles will work wonders.

Grow your home better

Perhaps the easiest, and cheapest, way to add some colour to any living space is to introduce some bright flowers or plants. If you pick something seasonal, then this will be the best value.

If you want to add some greenery with very little maintenance, then succulents are just the ticket. They come in a huge range of all sizes and colours, and don’t need to be watered that frequently – perfect!

You don’t need to splash out on fancy vases or pots – for a crafty alternative you could try alternatives like milk bottles or cute jam jars.

A warm welcome

It’s the first thing that people see when they enter your home – so make sure you make a good first impression.  You don’t have to splash the cash, a welcome mat and some potted plants will give your welcome a touch of style.

Rearrange the furniture

Possibly the easiest – and quickest – way to breathe a new lease of life into your apartment is to rearrange the furniture. A few nudges here and there can easily make your room feel and appear larger. You can achieve this with a few nifty hacks – like adding mirrors, hanging pictures lower on the wall to give the impression of an even higher ceiling as well as making sure that all doorways are clear of clutter.

Whilst you’re rearranging the furniture, why not go one step further and try to create your own nook! A perfect place to read, relax and cosy up with a lamp and to get away from it all at the end of the day?

Clutter

A new year is the perfect time hit reset on your life, and an excellent way to do this is to go through all your stuff and have a good old fashioned clear out. Decluttering your possessions can not only give you more space and let you clear your mind, it’s also an excellent way to re-use or recycle things that you don’t use any more.

In the frame!

We all take hundreds of pics, but what’s the point if they just stay on your phone! Social media is great for sharing your favourite times, but it’s also nice to be surrounded pics of your favourite people and treasured moments. So, get your pics printed, and put them in a frame to add some colour to your living space.
