You don’t need us to tell you what an amazing city Manchester is – the city just keeps getting better and better. But recently Manchester has been making some pretty big waves globally, and the world is very much paying attention to our amazing city! So much so, that recently Manchester has been named as one of the best cities in the world to visit in 2023 by no less than FOUR leading global travel publications:
No one knows global travel better than Lonely Planet; their team truly understands what makes a city worth visiting. In its highly prestigious “Best in Travel 2023” list, Manchester was on the receiving end of some hefty praise. They described Manchester as “quite simply, one of the best – if not THE best – cities in the UK with something for everyone”. Manchester joins a world-class rostra of heavyweights including Sydney, New Mexico and Jordan.
In its “Bet of the World” list, Manchester features alongside the likes of San Francisco, Colombia and Switzerland as a “must-visit city” for the year ahead. As the only city in the UK to be awarded a place on the influential list, Manchester was praised by its travel experts and editors for its” growing arts and cultural hub” recognising the exciting new cultural projects due to launch in the city in 2023.
Manchester was also included in National Geographic’s prestigious “Family” category which celebrates cities offering educational journeys for all generations.
In its annual list of the best places to visit in the UK, Manchester of course was included as somewhere you “definitely want to visit”. Time Out summed up the city with a single word: “fun”. They went on to predict that 2023 promises to be “one of the funnest years to visit, ever”. We couldn’t agree more! Next month will see the Manchester Museum reopen following a massive £15m transformation, and in June the brand-new Factory International will host “You, Me and the Balloons” - cult artist Yayoi Kusama’s biggest ever immersive exhibition.
Last, but by no means least, Conde Nast Traveller included Manchester in its list of the “13 places to go in the UK in 2023”. The city received praise for its green credentials, cited the arrival of the 154 acres or RHS Garden Bridgewater and exciting new Castlefield Viaduct which it compared to the New York High line.
